Phulka Roti
Phulka is also known as chapati or Roti. A Indian flat bread made from whole wheat flour can be served with variety of cooked Curries N Subjis.
YIELD –8-10 rotis
Ingredients:
Whole Wheat Flour - 1 cupWarm milk - 1/4 cup
Warm Water as required
Oil-1/2 tsp
salt as per taste (Optional)
Flour for rolling
Ghee for serving
Method:
- Combine the flour and salt in large mixing bowl. Add oil and milk and mix well.
- Knead into a soft dough by adding water slowly. Start with less water and gradually increase until dough is pliable. The amount of water varies depending on the quality of flour.
- Keep and cover the dough with kitchen towel and let it rest for at least 15 mins.
- Just before making Rotis knead the dough again with lil oil. Divide it into a equal lemon size balls.
- Take 1 ball; press and dust it in dry flour.
- Roll it out evenly to a thin texture into a circular shape. If the dough sticks to rolling pin or rolling surface, lightly dust the roti with dry flour.
- Place the roti on a pre heated griddle (flat tava). Keep the griddle on mideum heat.
- After roti start changing its colour and small bubble will appear flip it to other side.
- Cook the other side just for few seconds.
- Remove the griddle from flame and place the roti directly on the low gas flame using a pair of metal tongs. Roti should puff inot a ball almost immediately.
- Remove form heat and apply ghee on the front side of roti. Serve hot.

i do it almost daily.. however i dont use milk.. let me try adding milk next time i make phulka :)
Yeah, milk will help to make more softer and more nutriitious as well.
