Sago Fritters
Sago Fritter is also
known as Saggu Biyyam Punugulu. This can be served as good starters/ evening snacks for
guests, kids and family.This fritters can be prepared as simple as using leftover idli or dosa batter which are available at home. My Amma makes it often during holidays. The crunchy texture of the fritter makes you to crave for more.

Ingredients:
Leftover Idly/Dosa batter -1 cup(sour)
Sago/saggu
biyyam-1/2 cup(soak in water for 1 hour)
Rice flour - 2 tbsp
Onion - 1 medium
chopped
Green chilli - 2
finely chopped
Cumin seeds -1/4
tsp
Cilantro - 1
spring chopped
Ginger- 1/2 tsp
chopped
Salt -1 tsp
Fruit salt or baking soda -1/4 tsp
Oil for deep
frying
Method:
1. In a bowl mix onion,green chilli,cilantro,ginger, soaked sago, cumin
seed, salt and fruit salt.
2. Pour in idly batter to it and add rice
flour(adding rice flour gives good binding ).
3. Mix altogether to get a good binding
for making fritters.
4. The batter consistency should be thick
as to drop in the oil for frying fritters.
5. Heat sufficient amount of oil to deep
fry fritters.
6. Once reaches the required tempature, drop
the batter of desired shapes in the oil.
7. Keep frying fritters for about 5-7
minutes until it turns golden brown.
8. Serve this yummy crunchy Saggu Biyyam / sago Fritters with coconut chutney.
