Dum Aloo

Who doesn't like Potatoes? Specially when its a baby potatoes simmered in creamy and aromatic gravy with traditional Indian spices. Follow this recipe and prepare this Dum Aloo today for your family.
Dum Aloo
 YIELD –3 servings


Baby Potato - 20 nos. (peeled and boiled)
Curd - 2 tsp
Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp
Garam Masala Powder - 1 tsp
Amchur Powder - 1/2 tsp
Salt as per taste
Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
Chili Powder- 1 tsp
Oil- 2 tsp
For Paste
Onion - 1 big roughly chopped
Tomato - 1 big roughly chopped
Cashew - 8-10 nos.
Cinnamon - 1 small stick
Cardamom - 1 pod
Clove - 2-3 nos.
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp


  1. Grind all the ingredients of Paste and make a smooth paste. Add water if required.
  2. Heat the oil in a frying pan and add above prepared paste along with ginger garlic paste into it. saute.
  3. Add all the spices and saute well until oil starts to leave.
  4. Add potato and beaten curd into it. Cook for 8-10 mins. Add little water if required to maintain gravy consistency.
  5. Serve hot with your choice of Roti or Paratha


Make sure Potatoes are not over cooked and once boiled; poke some wholes using toothpick or fork so it can absorb spices well.

You can also use cream and milk to make it more rich in taste.
