Taro Root Fry

Taro root is boiled and dipped in spice batter, it is then roasted. This recipe is very simple and quickly prepared for lunch as accompaniments. Try this yummy fry and send feedback.

Taro Root Fry

YIELD –  10-12 slice


Taro/Sepan kizhangu - 5
Corn Flour- 2 tbsp
Rice Flour - 2 tbsp
Red Chilli Powder- 1 tsp
Cumin Powder- 1 tsp
Amchur Powder-1/2 tsp
Salt To Taste


  1. Wash and cook taro root in boiling water with salt added till soft(do not over cook).
  2. Cool the taro root in running tap water and peel off the outer skin.
  3. Slice the taro root around 1/2 inch disc or lengthwise.
  4. In a flat bowl combine all the ingredients except taro root.
  5. Add water and make a thick batter(it should not be free flow).
  6. Dip the taro root slice in the batter.
  7. Heat griddle with oil greased and place the taro root , fry both sides till golden brown on slow flame(if necessary add oil in between).
  8. Serve with steamed rice and as starter.
