Farali Dosa ~ Fasting Recipe

It is really a  big head ache to decide the menu during fasting. we get fed up of eating all usual sago and potato dishes everyday in fasting. So, it's an honest try to make this deal easy by trying a South Indian Delight in fasting. Here goes the recipe of Farali Dosa. This recipe is very easy to make and good in taste.

Farali Dosa

YIELD – 8 Dosas


Samo/Moraiyo - 1 cup
Rajgara Flour - 1 cup
Buttermilk - 1 cup
Salt as per taste
Green chili - 1 big
Ginger - 1" Piece
Red Chili powder - 1 tsp (optional)
Butter for cooking
Farali Dosa

  1. Soak the samo seeds in required buttermilk for 2 hrs.
  2. Remove access water/buttermilk from samo and grind it in a thin batter along with ginger and green chili. (Conistency should be thin same like normal dosa batter).
  3. Add rajgara flour into samo batter. Add more buttermilk to get proper consistency.
  4. Keep it aside for 2-3 hours more for fermentation.
  5. Add salt and red chili powder if you are using it.
  6. Farali Dosa batter is ready.
  7. Spread out dosa in hot griddle and cook same way we make other dosa with butter on both sides.
  8. Serve hot with green chutney and aloo bhaji.
