Kadalai Maavu Chutney / Besan Chutney
Most of the times I have wondered what chutney or side dish to make for dosa on a lazy day. My mom thought me this easy to make chutney that goes well with Idly or Dosa. And it tastes so good with idly. Thats so easy to make and you will need very little effort and chopping. I thought of sharing this easy recipe with you and here it goes.
Garlic - 2
Shallots - 2
Green chilli - 1 to 2
Oil - 1 tsp.
Water - 2 cups
Chilli powder - as per taste
Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp.
Urad dhal - 1/4 tsp.
Salt - as per taste
Kadalai Maavu Chutney / Besan Chutney |
YIELD – 3 SERVINGS
Ingredients:
Besan - 1 tbsp.Garlic - 2
Shallots - 2
Green chilli - 1 to 2
Oil - 1 tsp.
Water - 2 cups
Chilli powder - as per taste
Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp.
Urad dhal - 1/4 tsp.
Salt - as per taste
Method:
- Chop shallots, green chilli and garlic finely.
- Heat oil in a pan. Season it with mustard seeds and urad dhal.
- Add garlic, onion and green chilli and saute well.
- Add water to besan and mix well without any lumps.
- Add this mixture to the pan and add chilli powder (If required) and salt.
- Once this starts to boil reduce the flame to medium and cook well.
- The chutney will give tiny white bubbles all over.
- Once these bubbles disappears and the raw smell disappears the chutney is ready to be served.
- Served hot with Idly, Dosa or chappathi.
Note:
- If you dont like the crunchiness of green chillies when you eat use only chilli powder.
- If you feel the chutney is thickening before being cooked just add water little by little not to dilute it.
