A Burger packed and filled with healthy Mediterranean flavored Fallafel Patty and Hummus.
Veg Fallafel Burger
Fallafel with Hummus is a very popular street food in Middle East Countries and it is a national food of Israel. Hummus is a Sauce/Dip accompanied with fallafel. They usually serve them in a pita bread to make a sandwich but here I tried to make a burger using fallafel. It is a healthy burger that's filling too. These are great for anyone who craves a big bite but doesn't want the calories.

 YIELD – 8 mini Burgers


For Fallafel : 
Chickpeas - 1 cup
Onion - 1 large
Carrot - 1 no.
Green Peas - 1/2 cup
Garlic - 3 cloves
Parsley - 1/4 cup chopped
Coriander - 1/2 cup chopped
All purpose flour - 1/2 cup
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Pepper powder as per taste
Salt as per taste
Lemon juice - 2 tbsp
Oil for frying

For Burger :
Burger bun - 8 mini buns
Cheese Slice - 4 nos
Tomato slices - 8 nos.
Mustard Sauce - 5-6 spoons
Hummus - 7-8 spoons (Check recipe HERE)
Salt and pepper as per taste
Tomato sauce - for serving


  1. For Fallfal Patty :
  2. Soak the chickpeas overnight. Pressure cook them next day until cooked well. Drain water and allow it to cool for 30 minutes.
  3. Add chickpeas, onion, carrot, peas, garlic, parsley and coriander in a food processor and make a coarse thick paste.
  4. Remove this mixture in a large mixing bowl and add salt, pepper, cumin seeds and all purpose flour with lemon juice and mix well.
  5. Divide this mixture into 8 equal size balls and make it a round patty.
  6. Shallow fry all patty in a hot tava using required oil until both side brown. Keep them aside. Enjoy the patty as a healthy snack or pack them in a sandwich or go ahead and assemble a delicious burger.
  7. Burger Assembly
  8. Slice the burger buns in the middle and toast the inner parts of it. 
  9. Place the bottom part of bun  in a plate and place a fallafel patty in it.
  10. Spread hummus sauce, mustard sauce on the patty. (OPTIONAL - sprinkle salt and pepper and spread tomato ketchup with mayonnaise)
  11. Now place tomato slice, lettuce and half of the cheese slice on the patty.
  12. Complete the burger assembly by covering it with top part of bun.
  13. Yummy Burger is ready to serve. serve it with tomato ketchup.
