Mooli Moong Dal ~ Side Dish For Roti / Paratha | Marvari Recipe
Raddish cooked with moong dal in the spiced gravy.
I was wondering of what else I can try with raddish other than paratha, salad, stir fry . When I googled for the recipe, I came across with this wonderful marvari sabji. The bowl of sabji not only looks appealing but also tastes great when enjoyed with rice or roti. This can be made instantly and perfect for weekday lunch idea, as it requires hardly few minutes to prepare - add all ingredients to the pressure cooker / pan, cook till turns soft and serve hot. Try this protein rich sabji to your healthy eating.
Health Tips:
Have few slices of raddish before meal, as it a good appetizer, acts as a mouth n breathe freshener . Raddish is a very good detoxifier, thus purifies bloodand improves blood circulation.
Preparation & Cooking Time : 30 Minutes
YIELD : 2-3 Servings
Ingredients:
Moong Dal - 1/2 cup
White Raddish - 2-3 medium Sized
Green Chilli - 1 tbsp chopped
Ginger paste -1 tsp
Cumin Seeds - 1/2 tsp
Cloves -2
Bay leaf - 1
Coriander leaves - 2 tbsp chopped
Chilli Powder - 1/2 tsp
Turmeric Powder -1/2 tsp
Asafetida- 1/4 tsp
Salt To taste
Water - 2 cups
Oil - 1 1/2 tbsp
Method:
- Peel , wash and dice the reddish into small cubes. Wash and soak moong dal in one cup of water.
- Heat oil in a pressure cooker. Add bay leaf, cloves and cumin seeds. Saute for a minute.
- Add asafetida, ginger paste, chopped green chilli and saute well. Now add moong dal along with water, raddish cubes, chilli powder, turmeric powder and mix well.
- Pour a cup of water and required salt. Pressure cook for 2 whistles. Wait for pressure to release.
- Dish out and garnish with coriander leaves. Serve with Rice or Roti.
Note:
- Follow the same procedure to make sabji with chayote, bottle gourd.
- You can even cook moong dal seperately in open pan and add to the gravy at the final stage.
