Paneer Tikka Masala Recipe | Ezcookbook

Paneer Tikka Masala; a famous and all time favourite dish of almost everyone in India. It is made with marinated tangy and spicy paneer and vegetables kebabs. Later dipped in a  very simple yet delicious gravy/masala. Serve it as a appetizer when dry or dip them in a gravy and serve in main course with Roti/Naan/Rice. Preparation Time : 1 hour

Cooking Time : 30 minutes

Yield : 4 persons


For Marinating:
Paneer cubes - 1 cup
Green capsicum - 1/2 cup cubed
Hung curd - 1/2 cup
Chilli powder - 1 tsp
Coriander powder - 1 tsp
Garam masala - 1 tsp
Ginger garlic paste 1 tsp
Salt as per taste
Kauri methi 1 tsp
Amchur (Dry mango) powder 1 tsp
Butter or oil for brushing

For Gravy
Onion - 1 big finely chopped
Tomato - 3 nos.
Ginger garlic paste 1 tsp
Chili powder - 1 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Coriander powder - 1 tsp
Garam masala- 1 tsp
salt as per taste
Cream 1/2 cup
Oil + Butter - 2 tbsp


  1. For Paneer Tikka : In a Large mixing bowl mix all ingredients hung curd, Chilli powder, Coriander powder, Garam masala, Ginger garlic paste, salt, kasuri methi, Amchur (Dry mango) powder and prepare marination paste.
  2. Mix well and add fresh paneer cubes and cubed capsicum. mix well to coat them well with paste. Keep it in refrigerator for half n hour for marination.
  3. Spread all cubes in a aluminium foil and brush with butter or oil.
  4. Broil in a preheated oven for 15 mins or until they start to get brown spots on edges. (you can also grill them in skewers or shallow fry them in pan).
  5. For Gravy: Blanch tomato in boiling water for few minutes. Once done take it out and remove the skin. prepare the puree using blender. keep it aside.  
  6. Heat the oil in a pan and add onion. Sauté for few minutes until transparent. Add ginger garlic paste and sauté for few seconds .
  7. Add all the dry spices salt, turmeric powder, chili powder, garam masala, coriander powder. mix well and cook for few seconds.
  8. Add tomato puree and 1 cup of water and cook for 10 minutes on low flame until gravy thickens and oil start to bubble.
  9. Add kasuri methi and cream. mix well. add grilled paneer and capsicum. Cook for 5 minutes so paneer will absob flavours from gravy.
  10. Take it out in serving dish and garnish with coriander.
  11. Paneer Tikka Masala is ready to serve. Serve it with Roti/Naan/Rice.
