Preparation Time : 3 hours
Cooking Time : 30-40 minutes
Yield :25-28 paniyaram
Ingredients:
Rolled / Instant Oats - 1 cupToor daal/ Red Gram - 1/2 cup
Channa Daal / Bengal Gram - 1/2 cup
Dried Red chilli - 5-6no.(adjust as per spice level)
Fennel or Cumin seeds - 1tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
Coriander leaves - 2 tbsp finely chopped
Salt To Taste
Oil as required
Method:
- Wash and soak lentils/daal together in water for 2-3 hours. After two hours drain excess water and process or grind with oats, fennel seeds, salt to coarse paste. Add water as needed to grind easily.
- To the grinded batter add chopped coriander, onion and turmeric powder. Mix well.
- The consistency of the batter should be like Idli batter. Make sure not to add excess water.
- Heat the paniyaram / Aapey pan. Smear few drops of cooking oil in each hole. Now pour a small laddle of batter till 3/4th of the hole and drizzle little oil on top.
- Cover with lid and let it cook on medium low flame until edges turns cripsy and golden or until batter seems to be cooked. Flip the other side and cook for another few minutes till golden brown.
- Dish out and serve hot with coconut chutney or relish as such.
Note:
- No need to soak oats prior. Add along with daal while grinding.
- You can add half portion of rice and oats in equal ratio.
- If you don't have paniyaram pan simply make as a Adai/Dosa in any flat pan .
