DIY Salt & Pepper Popcorn Recipe on stove top

Preparation & Cooking Time : 10 minutes

Yield :1 large bowl

Sunflower Oil – 2 tbsp
Popcorn kernels – ¼ cup
Butter - 2 tbsp

For Seasoning:
Sea salt & Freshly ground black pepper

  • Heat oil in a large lidded saucepan with a few popcorn kernels in the pan. Always keep the flame medium-high. When you hear the kernels pop cerefully tip in the rest of the kernels.

  • Shake the pan over the heat until the popping stops. Take care when lifting the lid as any unpopped kernels may still pop from the heat of the pan.

  • Now tip the popcorn into the bowl, removing any unpopped kernels as you go.

  • Adding butter for topping is up to your taste preference. I always do as my kid loves it. Melt the butter in a wide empty hot pan. Place your popcorn and toss with the spatula until butter coats evenly to all the popcorns.

  • Season the popcorn well with salt and pepper. Add gradually and keep tasting until you feel perfect. Serve warm or cold.

  • Other fun toppings can be chilli pepper, paprika. And for the sweet lovers maple syrup or chocolate syrup.
  • You can add salt directly to the kernels while popping to coat evenly.
  • Keep shaking the pan while popping to make sure all the kernels are getting popped.
  • Remove or transfer the popcorns right immediatley when the popping stops to avoid popcorns getting burned at the bottom of the pan.
