Methi Paratha / Thepla

Methi/fenugreek Paratha also very famous as Thepla in Gujarat. Fenugreek also known as Greek Hay which is readily available in our kitchen. This amazing herb has got many powerful medicinal properties and can cure a number of ailments, reduce cholesterol, helps treat diabetes, prevents hair loss, aids digestion, treats skin problems etc...Include this herb in your diet at least once a week.This Paratha can be used for regular meals, traveling and for picnics too.

YIELD: 10-12 Paratha
Fresh Curd – 3 tbsp
Wheat Flour – 2 cups
Methi (Fenugreek leaves) – 1 cup finely chopped
Garlic – 2 pods finely chopped
Red chili Powder – 2 tsp finely chopped
Coriander powder – 1 tsp
Turmeric Powder – 1 tsp
Hing – pinch
Salt as per taste

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and knead into a soft and smooth dough using water only if required. Keep aside for 10 minutes.
  2. Make even size small balls of the dough and roll them separately into a round shape.
  3. Roast them in both sides in flat tava (griddle) using little oil until golden brown.
  4. Serve Hot with curd and pickle.
*  You can prepare theplas in different variations using grated bottle guard or methi with bottle guard both together.
*  You can also add 2 tbsp of besan(gram flour), 2 tbsp of millet flour and ½ tbsp of sesame to enhance more flavor and nutrition.
