Sev Puri

Sev Puri one of the most favourite chaat sold on Mumbai streets. Every bhelwala has his own recipe of sevpuri. Sevpuri, as the name indicates is sev topped on puris or papadis, along with potatoes and chutneys. Tangy, crisp and tongue tickling are some words that come to my mind when I think of sevpuri. The very thought makes my mouth water as I reach out to make this delicious chaat! Enjoy the recipe of Sev Puri below.......

YIELD – 2 servings

Sev Puri


Flat Puri (Papdi)  - 15 nos. 

For Toppping
Potato - 1 big size boiled
Black chick peas - 1/2 cup boiled
Onion - 1 big size finely chopped
Chat Masala - 1/2 tsp
Salt as per taste
Chili powder - 1/2 tsp

For garnishing
Sev - 1/2 cup (choose very thin and normal flavor without any spices)
Curd - 1/2 cup beated
Date Tamrind Chutney - 1/2 cup
Coriander - 1/2 cup finely chopped


  1. In a mixing bowl combine all ingredients for toppings i.e. boiled mashed potato, finely chopped onion, black chickpeas with chat masala, salt and chili powder. mix well this mixture.
  2. In another bowl beat the curd well and add salt in it.
  3. In a serving plate place flat puris first and top it with one small spoon of potato mixture.
  4. Add one small spoon of curd on each puri toppings. 
  5. sprinkle chat masala on it and spread date tamrind chutney on each puris.
  6. Garnish with sev and coriander leaves.
  7. Chatpati delicious sev puri is ready to serve.
Note : If you are spicy lovers and want this chat to be more spicy, add green chutney and garlic chutney on it.
